I was asked by British Car Auctions to photograph a classic MG car. It was found in a garage of an enthusiast who has sadly passed away. There is an interesting story connected with it:
The car was a bit of a mess at first, but I gather £10,000 was spent on a new paint job. More interestingly though, in the garage was found a WWII grenade with the pin still in it!! The bomb disposal squad had to intervene at this point.
I got talking to a couple at the auction, and the guy I spoke to told me that when he was a kid, he found a grenade on a school trip and took it home on the bus! Him and his mates had previously come to the conclusion it was safe after throwing it against a wall a number of times! Later they decided to play cricket with it until an adult discovered the find!
The MG which understandably attracted a lot of attention, went for over £22,000
