Much of my work is wedding photography, I love it. I mean I get to go to the happiest day of people’s lives and everyone is in a good mood. I love taking fun photos, trying out photo ideas, and even the group photos as I get to throw in the occasional bit of banter whilst I am getting everyone into place. I live the rock star lifestyle……! Well ok not quite
I do like playing with my camera though and capturing people’s special day. Tonight however I am doing less glamorous things. As weddings all happen around the same time of year, I tend to find I am doing all the after hours work from several weddings at the same time.
So far this evening I have sent off several digital images purchased from one of the online wedding galleries on my website, to one of the wedding guests from that day. I also have a similar order from another guest from another wedding, but they want prints. I can add that to the email I have just received containing the photo numbers for a top of my range wedding album, 200 digital images and images for three parent albums. That’s a £3.5K wedding order. A big chunk of that will go on the cost of making the albums though. That’s because I use the very best albums out there and they really don’t come cheap. I’m glad that my client appreciates that and I know they will cherish the album for a lifetime.
So here I am past 11pm still working away trying to process all the jobs and tie up all those loose ends. It will probably be another late night again tomorrow getting it all done. I tend to work better into the night anyway. Occasionally I have worked until 1 or even 2am to finish uploading a new wedding gallery to my website.
It’s just as well I really like what I do, or else I probably wouldn’t be here. Heck I am my own worst boss, I am a slave driver…..to myself!
Apart from enjoying looking through all the photos I have taken and feeling satisfied, the other thing that gives me a buzz, is hearing how happy my clients are with the end result.
